Service status

The useful thing this page can tell you is not whether a server is up. It is that the application does not need one.

How this page works

There is no automated uptime monitor behind it, so it shows no live ticks — publishing green lights nobody measured would be worse than publishing none. An outage that affects anyone is posted here and in the changelog, and anyone affected mid-purchase is emailed.

What depends on what

ServiceDepends onIf it is down
The applicationNothing.Capture, text recognition, search, the overlay, redaction and export all run entirely on your Mac. No outage anywhere can stop them, including ours.
Update feed
https://updates.screenshotinbox.com/appcast.xml
Static file hosting.Check for Updates reports that it could not reach the server. Your installed copy is unaffected and keeps working. Nothing retries in the background.
Licence activation
https://api.screenshotinbox.com
A small API, contacted once per Mac.A new activation cannot complete until it is back. Macs already activated are unaffected — the app does not re-check, ever.
Checkout

Lemon Squeezy, our merchant of record.New purchases cannot complete. Existing licences and the application are unaffected. Their own status page is the authority here.

The design decision underneath this

An app that phones home has to stay reachable forever or it stops working for people who already paid. Screenshot Inbox was built so that both of its servers could disappear permanently and every installed copy would carry on indefinitely. That is why there is no account, no session and no periodic licence re-check.

It also means this page will usually have nothing to report, which is the intended outcome rather than an oversight.

Something is wrong for you specifically

If the app itself is misbehaving, the cause is almost never an outage — start with the documentation, particularly Permissions, which explains the macOS privacy prompts that most commonly look like a broken app. If that does not resolve it, write in.
