Privacy policy

This policy covers two separate things that people often conflate: theScreenshot Inbox application, which collects nothing, andthis website, which collects a small amount. Keeping them apart is the point.

The application

Screenshot Inbox does not collect, transmit or store any personal data. Your screenshots, the text recognized from them, the metadata derived from them and the search index built over them all remain on your Mac, in a folder you can open.

There is no analytics, no telemetry and no crash reporting of any kind.

The application makes exactly two network requests, both user-initiated:

• Check for Updates. When you press the button, the app requests a signed update feed from https://updates.screenshotinbox.com/appcast.xml. This transmits no information about you or your library beyond what any HTTP request necessarily reveals — your IP address and the app version requesting the feed. It never runs automatically or on a schedule.
• Licence activation. When you press Activate, the app sends your licence key to https://api.screenshotinbox.com once, to confirm it is valid and belongs to this product. The key is stored afterwards only in your Mac's Keychain, and is never written to logs. After a successful activation, the app does not contact this service again.

Both can be verified from outside the application with a network monitor such as Little Snitch. We encourage that — seePrivacy.

Purchases

Purchases are processed by Lemon Squeezy, who act as merchant of record. They collect the information required to take payment and meet tax obligations — your name, email address, billing country and payment details — under their own privacy policy. We receive your email address and country, so that we can send your licence key and provide support. We never see your card details.

This website

We use cookieless analytics that records aggregate page views, referring sites and coarse country-level location. It sets no cookies, stores no identifier on your device, and cannot follow you to other sites or build a profile of you. We use it to know whether anybody is reading this, and which page they arrived from.

The Privacy page and this page load no analytics and no third-party resources at all.

The site loads no webfonts, no advertising, no social widgets and no embedded video players from other origins. Server logs are retained briefly for security and debugging.

Email

If you write to support, we keep the correspondence so we can follow up and recognise a recurring problem. We do not add you to a mailing list for writing to us, and there is no marketing email programme.

Your rights

Since the application holds nothing about you, requests to access, export or delete personal data concern only your purchase record and any support correspondence. Write tosupport@screenshotinbox.com and we will act on it. Purchase records held by Lemon Squeezy are subject to their policy and their retention obligations as merchant of record.

Your own library — images, recognized text and metadata — is exportable from the app at any time, in one action, to ordinary files.

Changes

If this policy changes materially, the change will be dated here and noted in the changelog. We will not retroactively start collecting something this document says we don't.
