Lost your key?
It happens constantly and it is easy to fix. Whatever the state of your licence, your library is untouched — a lost key costs you one activation step, never a screenshot.
I cannot find my key
It is in the purchase email from Lemon Squeezy, who handle the sale. Search your inbox — and your spam folder — for “Screenshot Inbox” before writing. That finds it most of the time.

I have the key and activation fails
That is a different problem. Activation is the one network call the app makes on purpose, so if it is refusing, check whether the licence service is up before assuming the key is wrong.
I am setting up a new Mac
Install the app, paste the same key, press Activate. There is no device limit to release and nothing to deactivate on the old machine — the licence covers every Mac you personally own.
Replies usually within a working day, and always inside three working days.
Where the key goes
Settings → Account, then Activate. It is one call to a licence server and then never again — the app does not phone home to re-check, which is why it keeps working on a plane and why an expired domain could never switch it off.
